Oh hey, I'm Marnie! (your new pottery teacher)

I'm a mud-under-the-fingernails potter who teaches beginners to throw on the wheel in a small studio off Alder Street. I made lopsided bowls for two years before anything came out round, so I know exactly where you'll get stuck and exactly what to say when you do.

Now I teach people who are sure they'd be bad at this, and they leave with a mug they made and actually use.

kind of business.

Most people walk in certain the wheel will beat them. Four hours later they leave with two mugs, some clay in their hair and a plan to come back. My job is the bit in between: getting the clay centered, keeping your hands steady, and knowing when to let you fix it yourself.
